Fashion designer Christian Lagerwaard, born in Krefeld, Germany, with ancestral ties to silk weavers in Krefeld and roots in Rotterdam and Brunssum, has embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of fashion. Despite his early exposure to music education, Christian Lagerwaard followed his passion for fashion, a decision that ultimately led him to become a distinguished figure in the industry.

Lagerwaard's exceptional talent was recognized at the young age of 20 when he clinched the prestigious "Prix Guy Laroche" during the "Concours de Couture," a platform for emerging design talents in the Netherlands in 1985. This achievement led to a personal invitation from Guy Laroche himself, introducing Lagerwaard to the world of high fashion. Furthering his experience, Christian Lagerwaard joined Emanuel Ungaro in Paris in 1992, where he delved into the secrets of high fashion design and craftsmanship.

In the year 2000, Lagerwaard showcased a captivating blend of Ready-to-Wear de Luxe and Demi Couture during Paris Fashion Week, earning him recognition from the Royal Dutch Family. Among his prestigious clientele, he counted Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of Orange.

In 2005, Christian Lagerwaard took a transformative step in his career, taking time to reflect on the purpose of his profession. The turning point came in July 2011 when Lagerwaard established a small office and temporary atelier at Place Vendôme in Paris. There, he presented a limited collection of couture pieces during High Fashion Week.

Invited by the Dutch Design Desk Europe in Maastricht and the Consulate General in Düsseldorf, Lagerwaard showcased his designs at "the Gallery" trade fair in Düsseldorf in July/August 2012. His journey continued as he presented his collections during Berlin Fashion Week in January 2014, followed by a series of appearances during Paris Fashion Week from January 2015 until the end of 2019.
